This Louis Vuitton hat suitcase Louis Vuitton came to us in a sorry state.
It dates from the 1930s.
Monogram coated canvas: Mark 5
The humidity had invaded her, mushrooms and a foul odor was trapped in this large suitcase deemed waterproof. Moldy interior, peeling exterior, blistered, tarnished, locked lock which had been forced to open. It was a real challenge to tackle luxury luggage in this condition.
The fully cracked outer canvas gives it exceptional relief . Despite everything, we made the choice to restore it to give it even more beauty , without erasing its history. Restoration without repainting.
The whole canvas had to be peeled off , cleaned and glued , the brasses polished and the lozine cleaned . 100% of the pieces, and exterior canvases preserved. Conservation rule.
Old - fashioned restoration of the linen interior . Suitcase equipped with a very clever little interior arrangement that offers one or two storage floors. Ideal for Madame's large hat or her two hats or Monsieur's caps. The adjustable shelf is in Vuitton tape. The suitcase could be used for horse races , picnics, Sunday outings ... or quite simply for transatlantic cruises. This luggage is ready to hit the road again, or to rest in an elegant living room decoration.
This Suitcase will be sold at auction , in an auction room in Munich, the final price exceeded the estimate of the auctioneer .
